CD Projekt Red Issues Warning
CD Projekt Red emphasized the importance of vigilance, stating, "We've been taking the necessary steps to take this fraudulent messaging down. That said, if you receive any invites to or stumble upon news of one, we kindly ask you to report the scam using the tools available to you in your email client or the social media platform you are using." They further reassured fans that any future beta tests would be announced through official channels first.
The Witcher 4 Unveiled in December 2024
The buzz around The Witcher 4 began with its announcement at the Game Awards in December 2024. Alongside the announcement, a captivating trailer was released, revealing Ciri as the new protagonist, a shift from the previous games where Geralt held the spotlight. This decision stirred significant discussion within the community.
In response to fan reactions, The Witcher 4 Narrative Director Phillipp Weber shared insights in an interview with VGC. He acknowledged fans' attachment to Geralt but expressed confidence in Ciri’s potential to deliver a compelling narrative. "The best thing that we can do, and I think this is really our goal, is to prove that with Ciri, we can do a lot of interesting things so we can really make it worth it because this decision to have Ciri as a protagonist wasn’t made yesterday, we started making this a very long time ago," Weber stated.
The Witcher 4 Executive Producer, Małgorzata Mitręga, also addressed the community's mixed feelings, saying, "Everyone has the right to have an opinion, and we do believe it comes from the passion for our games and I think the best answer for that will be the game itself when the game is released." Mitręga's comments underscore the team's commitment to delivering a game that meets fans' expectations.
Described as the most ambitious entry in the series, The Witcher 4 promises to introduce new regions and monsters, expanding the universe players have come to love. The game is slated for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, though no specific release date has been announced yet. Stay tuned to our updates for the latest news on The Witcher 4.
