Special Room and More Exclusively for Switch 2
During the latest Nintendo Direct for Switch 2 on April 2, it was revealed that Deltarune will be available on the new console with chapters 3 and 4, along with exclusive features tailored for the next-gen platform.
Toby Fox, the developer behind Deltarune, shared exciting news in a Fangamer newsletter. He announced that the Switch 2 version will include a special room designed to utilize the innovative mouse functionality of the new Joy-Cons. Fox excitedly mentioned, "So, we made a very small SPECIAL ROOM which takes advantage of using MOUSE CONTROLS ON TWO CONTROLLERS AT ONCE, only possible on the Nintendo Switch 2!!"
For those without a Switch 2, fear not—the special room will still be accessible, though with an adapted control scheme. Additionally, players can seamlessly import their save files from the Nintendo Switch demo of Deltarune 1 and 2 to the new version, ensuring a smooth transition.
Deltarune Future Chapters Will Be Free
In the same newsletter, Toby Fox announced the pricing for Deltarune at $24.99, which includes Chapters 1 and 2, as well as the upcoming Chapters 3 and 4. Initially released in 2018 and 2021, Chapters 1 and 2 were available for free, but it was previously indicated that future chapters (3-5) would be paid content.
However, in a generous turn of events, Fox declared that all future chapters will be released as free updates. This means that players only need to purchase the game once, and they will receive all subsequent chapters at no extra cost. Fox expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "But, it's my hope that as we complete more Chapters, you'll feel like this game was a super super super super good deal."
Additionally, the game's extensive soundtrack will be available on Steam for $14.99. The soundtrack for Chapters 3 and 4 alone includes over 150 songs, with future chapters' music also being added for free. Deltarune aims to provide exceptional value, ensuring that every penny spent feels worthwhile through its commitment to free future content.
