The GeForce RTX 4090, while a generation older than the Blackwell 50 series, remains a powerhouse, outperforming the GeForce RTX 5080, RTX 4080 Super, Radeon RX 9070 XT, and RX 7900 XTX. Only the RTX 5090 surpasses it, but finding one at a reasonable price is practically impossible.
Due to its discontinuation, sourcing an RTX 4090 is becoming increasingly difficult. However, Dell offers two pre-built gaming PCs featuring this GPU at competitive prices: the Alienware Aurora R16, starting at $3,299.99, and the Dell Tower Plus, starting at $2,849.99. These represent some of the best prices currently available for an RTX 4090 pre-built system, as many other manufacturers, including Lenovo and HP, no longer stock RTX 4090 PCs.
Alienware Aurora R16 RTX 4090 Gaming PC

Alienware Aurora R16 Intel Core Ultra 7 265F RTX 4090 Gaming PC
$3,299.99 at Alienware
This Alienware Aurora R16 boasts an Intel Core Ultra 7 265F CPU, GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, 16GB DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. The processor is upgradeable to an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, though this is unnecessary for most gamers. The included Intel Core Ultra 7 265F offers a solid 5.3GHz max turbo frequency and 20 cores, effectively cooled by a 240mm AIO liquid cooler. The system is powered by a 1000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply.
Dell Tower Plus RTX 4090 Gaming PC

$2,849.99 at Dell
The Dell Tower Plus offers comparable specs: an Intel Core Ultra 7 265F CPU, GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, 16GB DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. Consider upgrading the processor to the Intel Core Ultra 7 285K for $100; this also improves cooling from standard to advanced air cooling (125W TDP vs 65W TDP). It's powered by a 1000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply.
RTX 4090 Performance: How Does It Stack Up?
The RTX 4090 reigns supreme among RTX 40 series GPUs. Only the $2000 RTX 5090 outperforms it. Expect smooth 4K gaming at 60+fps, even with maxed-out settings and ray tracing enabled (especially with DLSS support). Path tracing remains demanding for all GPUs, but rarely used outside benchmarks. While the RTX 5090 offers a performance edge, the 4090 excels for most gamers.
Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 GPU Review by Chris Coke: "The RTX 4090 may be huge and expensive, but it delivers unparalleled frame rates. Even the $1,599 price seems reasonable given its performance and DLSS 3 capabilities."
