Forza Horizon 4 to be Removed from Digital Stores on December 15, 2024
The popular open-world racing game, Forza Horizon 4, will be delisted from major digital platforms on December 15, 2024. This means that after this date, the game and its additional content will no longer be available for purchase on digital storefronts.
Launched in 2018, Forza Horizon 4, set in a fictionalized UK, quickly became a beloved Xbox title, boasting over 24 million players by November 2020. Despite previous assurances from developer Playground Games that delisting wasn't planned, expiring licenses necessitate its removal.
The delisting announcement, published on the Forza.net website, confirms the game's removal from the Microsoft Store, Steam, and Xbox Game Pass on December 15th. Furthermore, all DLC will be removed from purchase on June 25th, leaving only the Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate editions available until the delisting date.
Forza Horizon 4's Final Series and Post-Delisting Access
The game's final series, Series 77, will run from July 25th to August 22nd. While the playlist screen will become inaccessible after this period, the Forza Events screen, offering daily and weekly challenges and Forzathon Live events, will remain active.
Existing players, whether owning digital or physical copies, can continue playing Forza Horizon 4 without interruption. Game Pass subscribers with active, paid subscriptions who have purchased DLC will receive a game token to maintain access.
The Reason Behind the Delisting and Discounted Offers
The delisting is attributed to expiring licenses for in-game cars and music, a common issue affecting racing and sports games. This follows the precedent set by the earlier removal of Forza Horizon 3.
To capitalize on this final opportunity, players can currently benefit from an 80% Steam discount, with an additional Xbox Store sale planned for August 14th.
