Crunchyroll's Android app now features Kardboard Kings, a captivating single-player card shop management game. Initially launched on PC in February 2022, this title from Henry's House, Oscar Brittain, and Rob Gross (published by Akupara Games) has made its way to consoles and now mobile devices via Crunchyroll. The Kardboard Kings Experience:
Players step into the shoes of Harry Hsu, inheriting his father's card shop. His father, a renowned card collector and Warlock champion, leaves Harry to navigate the exciting world of card buying, selling, and trading.
Harry receives unexpected assistance from Giuseppe, a quick-witted cockatoo with an uncanny ability to spot profitable deals. This feathered business partner proves invaluable in the charming seaside shop. Harry must satisfy customers, but the game also allows for some playful dishonesty to boost profits.
The game boasts charming characters with witty dialogue, referencing other card games and anime. Over 100 uniquely designed cards, complete with quirky illustrations and shiny variants, add to the appeal.
Gameplay Details:
The core gameplay revolves around the classic "buy low, sell high" principle. However, as the game progresses, card conditions and set rarities fluctuate, influencing value along with factors like foil finishes and ability popularity.
Kardboard Kings also includes a roguelite deck-building mode on Card Game Island, where players face challenging duelists. Additional features include hosting tournaments, booster pack parties, and clearance sales.
