Civilization VII Developers Consider Past Civilizations and Leaders
Hope Remains for Gandhi and Other Familiar Faces

Following an IGN interview with Civ VII lead designer Ed Beach on February 13, 2025, a glimmer of hope emerged for Gandhi's return. Beach confirmed that while it might not be immediate, Gandhi's inclusion as DLC remains a possibility.
During the interview, Beach addressed the absence of several historically significant civilizations and leaders from Civ VII's initial lineup, including Great Britain and India. He explained that tough choices had to be made due to the sheer number of popular options. The developers aimed to include some fresh, exciting civilizations while acknowledging that some favorites would be left out initially. However, Beach emphasized that Firaxis is considering the long-term picture and the eventual reintroduction of these omitted leaders and civilizations.

Given the extensive DLC history of Civilization VI, the chances of Gandhi appearing in Civ VII are high. The specific release date, however, remains unconfirmed.
