Locating the Rime Beetle

Following Samin's clue, your search begins in the Iceshard Cliffs. Unlike other quests, waypoints won't lead you directly to the Rime Beetle. Instead, rely on keen observation and a bit of luck.

These endemic creatures create noticeable snowballs, easily spotted in snowy areas. Focus your search on Iceshard Cliffs Areas 2, 7, 8, 11, and 13. Look for these snow formations, or follow any tracks in the snow.

Capturing the Rime Beetle

While you can collect it manually, capturing the Rime Beetle is the objective. Equip your Capture Net (usually accessible via L1/LB), aim (L2/LT), and wait for the targeting reticle to turn orange before firing. This adds the Rime Beetle to your collection, completing Samin's request. Direct collection yields Frost Pods instead.
