After 25 years since its original launch, Capcom's beloved role-playing game, Breath of Fire IV, has been resurrected for PC players. Initially released on the PlayStation in Japan and North America in 2000, followed by Europe in 2001, and then ported to PC in Europe and Japan in 2003, this classic title is now back with a vengeance. The game follows the journey of Ryu, a protagonist distinct from Capcom's other famous Ryu, who possesses the unique ability to transform into a dragon. Alongside a group of warriors, Ryu's mission is to thwart an emperor's destructive ambitions and save the world.
Thanks to GOG's Preservation Program, Breath of Fire IV has been meticulously updated for today's PC gamers and is available DRM-free on their platform. This enhanced version boasts full optimization for modern systems, ensuring compatibility with Windows 10 and 11. Players can enjoy the game in both English and Japanese, with visuals enhanced by an upgraded DirectX renderer. New display options such as Windowed Mode, V-Sync, Anti-Aliasing, and refined gamma correction further improve the visual experience. Additionally, the audio engine has been overhauled, bringing back missing environmental sounds and introducing new configuration options for a more immersive audio experience.
