Capcom has cleverly teased Resident Evil 9 within a celebratory video marking the milestone of 10 million players for Resident Evil 4. Released on April 25, 2025, the video showcases Ada Wong engaging in a hushed conversation with a notorious villain, followed by a scene of Leon surrounded by an infected crowd wearing party hats, all heading toward a church.
The video takes an amusing turn with Dr. Salvador humorously playing his chainsaw as if it were a guitar to the backdrop of a rock song, with Leon energetically fist-pumping. Behind Leon, a rustic sign reads "Thank you for playing."

Astute fans noticed that when the sign is turned sideways, the planks form the Roman numeral "IX," representing the number 9. While some might argue it's coincidental, horror game leaker Dusk Golem highlighted that a lower plank missing from earlier in the video was added deliberately for this purpose.
"I know what you did here," one surprised viewer commented, accompanied by a wide-eyed emoji.
Capcom has also confirmed that the next mainline entry in the *Resident Evil* series, presumably *Resident Evil 9*, will be helmed by Koshi Nakanishi, the director of *Resident Evil 7*."It was really difficult to figure out what to do after [Resident Evil 7]," Nakanishi stated at the time. "But I found it, and to be honest, it feels substantial. I can't share any details just yet, but I hope you're excited for the day I can." Though not officially confirmed, rumors suggest the setting might be an island inspired by Singapore.
