Borderlands 4 Gets Own PlayStation State of Play
PlayStation has officially announced that Borderlands 4 will be the star of its own State of Play today. In a recent X (formerly Twitter) post dated April 29, PlayStation revealed that the Borderlands 4 State of Play will kick off on April 30 at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET / 10 PM BST / 11 PM CEST, available to watch on their official YouTube and Twitch channels. During this eagerly anticipated livestream, Gearbox Software developers will delve into the details of the upcoming first-person shooter sequel to the beloved Borderlands series. As per a PlayStation.blog post from April 29, the State of Play will feature over 20 minutes of developer-guided gameplay. Expect to see missions, an arsenal of killer weapons, exciting Action Skills, both new and returning characters, and much more.
Launch Date Moved to September 12
Following the State of Play announcement, Gearbox Entertainment CEO Randy Pitchford took to X to share a surprising update. In a video posted on April 29, he announced that Borderlands 4's launch date has been moved up to September 12. The video was quickly deleted, and Pitchford followed up with a post explaining that he had shared the news prematurely and would repost it soon.
In the video, Pitchford expressed his enthusiasm, stating that the development process has been exceptionally smooth and that "everything’s going kinda the best scenario," which is why the game's launch is being accelerated. Initially, during PlayStation's February State of Play, Borderlands 4 was slated for a September 23 release. However, the official Borderlands 4 X account confirmed that the game will now hit the shelves two weeks earlier.
The official post reads, "After careful consideration–along with A LOT of meetings, playtestings, and incredible development work–we have made the monumental decision to MOVE UP THE LAUNCH DATE OF BORDERLANDS 4 to SEPTEMBER 12."
