After months of speculation and leaks, it seems Bethesda is poised to officially unveil the much-anticipated remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. The announcement is scheduled for tomorrow at 11:00 am EST, and will be broadcasted on both YouTube and Twitch.
In a recent tweet from the official Bethesda account, the company teased the event with an image prominently featuring a large "IV" and a background that bears a striking resemblance to iconic artwork from Oblivion, leaving little doubt about the subject of the announcement.
Rumors of an Oblivion remake have been circulating for what feels like an eternity. The initial whispers turned into more concrete leaks in recent weeks. The first hint came from a 2020 Bethesda release schedule that surfaced during the FTC vs. Microsoft trial in 2023, indicating an Oblivion remaster was slated for fiscal year 2022. Although that timeline had passed, making it possible to dismiss the project as canceled, a new leak in January of this year suggested that Bethesda, with the help of support studio Virtuos, was working on a full-blown remake. The leaks gained further credibility just last week when images from the remake appeared on Virtuos' website.
If these recent leaks hold true, The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Remastered will be available on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. Fans can also look forward to a Deluxe Edition, which will include the iconic horse armor alongside the standard version.
Be sure to tune in tomorrow for what promises to be the official confirmation of this exciting project, along with more detailed information about what to expect from the remake.
