Encountering the formidable Rompopolo in *Monster Hunter Wilds* is a memorable experience. This unique Brute Wyvern first appears in Chapter 2, Mission 2-1: Toward Fervent Fields, within the Oilwell Basin. Defeating it is key to progressing your journey to Azuz City. Once conquered (even once!), its entry will be added to your Large Monster Field Guide, allowing for repeated battles – either through exploration of the Oilwell Basin or by tackling the "Oilwell Basin Blast" Optional Quest.

How to Defeat and Capture Rompopolo

Prepare for battle by equipping water-element weapons (obtained from Uth Duna in the Scarlet Forest), and gear with fire resistance (also farmable from Uth Duna, or later from Ajarakan). Consider crafting a Fire Charm I or Defense Charm I talisman for extra protection. A hearty meal before the hunt will boost your health and stamina.
Rompopolo's Attacks and Weaknesses

Rompopolo's attacks utilize its gas-filled, saggy skin. Be prepared for explosions and poison. Carry Antidotes, and remember your Palico can help alleviate status ailments. Key attacks to watch out for include:
- Arm Swipe: A double swipe easily dodged.
- Lunge With Arm Swipe: A charging attack with an arcing swipe.
- Tail Swing: A straightforward tail attack.
- Poison Stream or Swipe: A poison gas spray or a charging swipe with poison.
- Oil Explosion: Explosions triggered by Rompopolo in oil pools.
- Charged Oil Explosion: A more powerful oil explosion later in the fight.
Capture or Kill?

Choose to capture or kill Rompopolo. To capture, weaken it until your Palico notes it's tired, then use Shock Traps or Pitfall Traps followed by a Tranq Bomb. Both methods yield rewards, though some items are exclusive to capture or kill.
