Assassin's Creed Shadows' First DLC, "Claws of Awaji," Leaks on Steam
A Steam leak has reportedly revealed details about "Claws of Awaji," the first downloadable content (DLC) for Assassin's Creed Shadows. This expansion, set in feudal Japan, promises a significant addition to the already anticipated title.
Assassin's Creed Shadows, the series' first foray into 16th-century Japan, features dual protagonists: Yasuke, a Samurai, and Naoe, a Shinobi. The game's development has been fraught with challenges, including negative feedback and multiple delays. The latest postponement moved the release date to March 20, 2025.
Insider Gaming reports that a now-removed Steam update revealed information about "Claws of Awaji." The DLC will reportedly introduce a new region, weapon type, skills, gear, and abilities, adding over 10 hours of gameplay. Pre-ordering the game will grant access to both the DLC and a bonus mission.
Delayed Launch and Ubisoft's Uncertain Future
The leak follows another delay announcement for Assassin's Creed Shadows. Initially slated for November 15, 2024, the release was first pushed back to February 14, 2025, and then again to March 20, 2025, to allow for further polishing. This latest delay comes as Ubisoft faces uncertainty amidst rumors of a potential Tencent acquisition. The company has recently struggled with underperforming titles like XDefiant and Star Wars Outlaws.
