AMD has unveiled the Radeon RX 9060 XT at Computex 2025, building on the momentum from the RX 9070 XT released earlier in March. Despite the excitement, Team Red has kept details about this mid-range graphics card under wraps.
The AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT comes equipped with 32 Compute Units and a robust 16GB of GDDR6 memory, which is impressive for a card aimed at 1080p gaming. Given its smaller size, it's no surprise that it consumes less power than its predecessor, the RX 9070 XT, with a Total Board Power (TBP) ranging from 150-182W.
With half the Compute Units and approximately half the power consumption of the RX 9070 XT, the RX 9060 XT is expected to be significantly less powerful but hopefully more budget-friendly. Unfortunately, AMD has yet to disclose any pricing or release date for this upcoming graphics card.
The Budget Battles Have Begun
It's frustrating that AMD hasn't revealed the price of the Radeon RX 9060 XT yet, but it's likely to be competitively priced, similar to the Intel Arc B580 and the recently launched RTX 5060. These competing graphics cards have power budgets of 145W and 190W, respectively, and both were introduced at around $250-$300. AMD is expected to target the same market segment.
When the AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT finally hits the market, gamers looking for a graphics card in the $300 range will have three viable options from different manufacturers. If the RX 9060 XT remains within this price bracket, it will stand out with its 16GB of VRAM, compared to the 8GB offered by Nvidia's RTX 5060 and the 12GB from Intel's Arc B580.
I'll need to test the RX 9060 XT in the lab to evaluate its performance, but if it holds up well against the competition, its larger frame buffer could provide longevity as games become increasingly demanding on video memory. While the exact cost of the RX 9060 XT remains uncertain, it's shaping up to be a compelling option for budget-conscious gamers. Only time will tell, but for now, the RX 9060 XT is definitely one to watch.
