Krafton has taken a significant step to distance itself from the ongoing legal disputes involving Ironmace Studios by rebranding Dark and Darker Mobile to Abyss of Dungeons. This move primarily affects the game's name and possibly some elements specific to Dungeons & Dragons, while the core gameplay remains unchanged.
For those unfamiliar with the situation, Ironmace Studios, founded by former Nexon employees, is currently embroiled in a legal battle with Nexon. The lawsuit centers around allegations that Ironmace misused trade secrets and assets developed during their time at Nexon to create Dark and Darker. While the legal proceedings continue, Krafton's decision to rename the mobile version to Abyss of Dungeons aligns with earlier reports from February hinting at such a change.
No DifferenceFortunately, the rebranding does not alter the core gameplay mechanics. Dark and Darker Mobile already featured a third-person perspective and other distinct changes, and these elements will remain intact in Abyss of Dungeons.
While this may be disappointing for fans of Ironmace, there is hope that the legal issues will resolve soon, allowing enthusiasts to enjoy Abyss of Dungeons alongside the PC version of Dark and Darker. The soft launch of Abyss of Dungeons is scheduled for June 11th in Brazil, Thailand, Indonesia, and Mexico.
