Hnefatafl is an ancient Scandinavian board game whose variants were played across medieval Europe even before chess emerged. Known also as Tafl games, these contests pit two differently sized armies against each other. The black army invades, aiming to capture the white king, while the white army defends, striving to protect their king and facilitate his escape.
Often dubbed the Game of the Vikings, Hnefatafl weaves tales of epic battles like the Moskowites' invasion of Sweden or the Viking raids on Britain. Yet, at the heart of every narrative lies a constant theme: the relentless pursuit of the king.
Despite its simple rules, Hnefatafl offers a rich tapestry of strategic depth, rewarding players who can surround enemy pieces, anticipate moves, set traps, and force their opponents into submission. Will you seize the king for gold and glory, or can the loyal guards repel the invaders and ensure the king's safe escape?

- Long Clicking (or right-clicking) an offline match in the main menu will now offer the option to rename matches.
- Added the option to always display the remaining time in an online match that has a timeout set. This was previously only available for quick matches.
- Updated the translations.
- When searching for opponents for new online matches, the ignore button now also works.
- When using the "Next Match" button, it will now respect the selected order for online matches.
