A traditional reflective game originating from West Africa, known as Awale, is also referred to as Ayo, Oware, or other regional names. As part of the Mancala family, this strategic two-player game shares similarities with others like Omweso, Bao, or Igisoro from East Africa. Played on a board with 8 holes per side containing 64 seeds, each player’s domain consists of the holes nearest to them. The objective is to capture all or part of the opponent's pieces to hinder their ability to continue playing. Within the broader Mancala family, additional games such as Ayo, Kisoro, and Omweso exist. Historical theories suggest that Mancala games may have originated in Ethiopia during the era of the Kingdom of Aksum.
