Allah says in the Quran:
"And establish prayer for My remembrance" (20:14),
"Successful indeed are the believers, who are humble in their prayers" (23:1-2),
"...and establish prayer. Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing, and the remembrance of Allah is greater..." (29:45)
From these verses, we understand that prayer reminds us of Allah, instills humility, and prevents us from immorality and wrongdoing. However, the reality is different. During prayer, our minds often wander to business, jobs, farming, family issues, and daily life concerns. How humble are we truly standing before the Almighty, the Most Honored, the Most Exalted? Millions of Muslims perform their five daily prayers, yet many engage in acts considered immoral and unjust by Islam (such as usury, lying, cursing, and backbiting) immediately after. Why does this happen?
Because we do not know what we are reciting during prayer, Quran recitation, prostration, bowing, and sitting!
In such a state, prayer becomes merely a ritual that we perform without understanding. Is this the example of an educated nation? It is essential to know what you are reciting in prayer today.
"Whoever calls to guidance, he will have a reward similar to those who follow him, without their reward being diminished in the slightest." [Sahih Muslim: 2678]
