Avowed: A Solo Fantasy Adventure – No Multiplayer Here
Avowed has been compared to both Skyrim and Obsidian's own The Outer Worlds, but one key difference sets it apart: it's a strictly single-player experience. Despite initial plans, Avowed does not feature multiplayer capabilities, eliminating any hopes for co-op or PvP modes. While you'll have companions to assist you, they remain non-player characters (NPCs), mirroring the structure of The Outer Worlds. All enemies are AI-controlled, and there are no invasion mechanics like those seen in games such as Sniper Elite.
The Absence of Multiplayer: A Development Decision
Obsidian Entertainment initially intended to incorporate multiplayer into Avowed, even using it as a selling point for investors. However, this feature was ultimately cut during development, with the studio citing a focus on other aspects of the game. While this might disappoint some, the resulting single-player experience appears to be the studio's primary focus.
No Co-op Mod (Yet?)
Currently, no publicly known co-op mods exist for Avowed on PC. While future modding possibilities remain open, creating such a mod is a significant undertaking. Similar to the Skyrim co-op mod, which arrived years after the game's release, any potential Avowed co-op mod is likely some time away, and Obsidian has confirmed they have no plans to add multiplayer post-launch.
In short: Avowed is a solo adventure. No multiplayer, co-op, or PvP is available, now or in the future.
